CLEMENT & PEKOE (50 SOUTH WILLIAM STREET)

The Irish are fond of ‘a hot scald’ (translation: a cup of tea or coffee). So, it stands to reason that a café like Clement & Pekoe attracts its fair share of brew buffs. This hip haunt brings serious knowledge to its leaf and bean game. The tea-caddied shelves house tasty combos of high-grade loose leaf blends (try the turmeric, apple, mango, and mint); with an equally large bean selection from local coffee roasters and single origin, ground-to-order filter java. That said, the only maturity profiles that are taken seriously belong to the coffee beans; otherwise, the atmosphere is enthusiastic and vibrant, brimming with the percolating hum of communal chatter.

KAPH
 (31 DRURY STREET)

Kaph is a small café with a big personality. Grab a window seat, a green tea matcha latte, some low-carb paleoman confections (oh, those brownies!) and imbibe the bustling brio of Dublin’s creative quarter. Eavesdrop on the banter between baristas and regulars while feeding off the friendly, fuss-free vibe. The sunny window seat makes a perfect perch for people-watching, as does its sidewalk-facing bench.

Where to Refuel

BLAZING SALADS (42 DRURY STREET)

As vegetarian food spots go, Blazing Salads has made ‘free-from’ a byword for wickedly tasty treats. Grab a takeaway box, fill with guilt-free goodies like roasted sweet potato and cumin hummus, Szechwan slaw, or curried roasted cauliflower and chickpea salad. Drizzle with the toasted seed dressing, weigh and go. Although the standing room bar allows for a quickie lunch, you may prefer to savour the flavours in an equally delicious setting. We recommend eating al fresco in one of Dublin’s lush city centre parks.

COCU (15/16 CHATHAM STREET)

Healthy food on the fly is what CoCu is all about. Part café; part restaurant, this healthy hangout uses local, seasonal ingredients to serve some serious feel good grub. Grab a customisable egg pot before work or create your own gluten-free lunch box to refuel on the go. Time for brunch? Don’t leave without trying the protein pancakes topped with Greek yogourt, compote and fresh mint. Finish with a cloud picker coffee, roasted locally on Dublin’s Sheriff Street.
