10 LinkedIn Profile Summaries That We Love (And How to Boost Your Own)
We get it. Writing your LinkedIn profile summary isn’t at the top of your to-do list. You’re not sure what to write. It’s not worth your time. Your profile is complete enough. [Insert your own excuse here.]
When brand messages are shared by employees on social media, they get 561 percent more reachthan the same messages shared by the brand’s social media channels.
Brand messages are re-shared 24 times more frequently when posted by an employee versus the brand’s social media channels.
On average, employees have 10 times more followers than their company’s social media accounts.
Content shared by employees receives 8 times more engagement than content shared by brand channels.
The bottom line is that we trust people more than we trust brands, and we engage with people more than we engage with brands. If you don’t get your employees involved on social, you’re absolutely losing out to companies that do.
The top 10 articles fall roughly into three categories, and all of which tuck under the larger umbrella of “workplace advice.”
The first category of successful content uses the “one thing” theme, which purports to tell the reader something that can add a positive or remove a negative from his or her life. This sort of behavioral advice for the workplace crops up in three of the top 10 articles.
The second grouping relates to job interview advice, which also appears in three of the top 10 stories. These posts offer guidance for answering tricky questions, from “What’s your current salary?” to the dreaded “Where do you see yourself in five years?” Clearly, this sort of helpful, practical advice resonates with LinkedIn’s famously “professional” demographics.
The third category reveals the popularity of “great CEO worship.” Posts that highlight successful CEOs’ routines, habits, emotional intelligence or communication skills often go viral. If you’re ever unsure of what to write about, something about Elon Musk is a safe bet.
“… #posts on #LinkedIn to go out during business hours, focus on #content, not the time of day.” “Similar to LinkedIn, once you publish on #Facebook more than five times per week (for most companies, that’s once per workday) the return on investment drops substantially.” Really nice read on frequency and timings of social posts.
